Congratulations to Rose Hugh Smith

Rose Hugh Smith (Form IV) rode as part of the GB Pony Team at the European Pony Championships in Arezzo, Italy in July where they won a bronze medal. This was the first time in six years that the dressage team have received a medal and Rose with her horse Holsteins Derwisch achieved a solid score which helped the team to reach medal position. The whole school is very proud of Rose’s achievement this summer and we send her our warmest congratulations on this outstanding achievement.

Ms Reynolds Umpired the Lacrosse World Cup Final

Over the summer, Ms Reynolds took part in the Lacrosse World Cup in Oshawa, Canada as one of thirty-two umpires selected from across the world. Ms Reynolds has had an illustrious lacrosse career, being the only female in England to have played, coached and umpired at World Cup level.

Ms Reynolds went through a rigorous set of fitness tests and training to ensure she met the umpiring standards required throughout the matches, which were played by the 19 countries represented at the World Cup. Mrs Reynolds umpired some incredible matches during which she sustained an achilles injury. However she was determined to umpire all the matches she was selected for. She was delighted and honoured to be selected to umpire the World Cup final between the USA and Canada.

Congratulations Ms Reynolds on such an incredible achievement!

GCSEPod 2.0

We are pleased to see GCSEPod 2.0 launched. This is the excellent online revision series designed for all computers from desktop through tablets to smartphones. Heathfield School purchases a whole school licence so that all girls taking their GCSEs may benefit.

Modules are available to suit most subjects taken and their examination board syllabuses, so that revision may be undertaken in the order of learning and in suitable chunks at a time. Modules may also be downloaded onto devices so that material can be revised anywhere, even on the move.

The new v2 software will be available from September 2013 and is compatible with all operating system platforms.
